Lutherans Respond to the Refugee Crisis

We have an opportunity right now to make a life-giving difference in what some are calling the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II.  It’s estimated that 4 million refugees are fleeing Syria’s civil war and seeking asylum in Europe.  That number became very personal when we saw the picture of the police officer carrying the lifeless body of a 3-year-old Syrian boy name Aylan who had washed up on a Turkish beach after drowning as he and his family tried to escape. 

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is responding.  Through Lutheran Disaster Response we are working with our companion churches in Hungary and Serbia and the Lutheran World Federation – to provide food, blankets, water, diapers, health kits and psychosocial services.  We are also in communication with our church companions in Germany as that country receives tens of thousands of refugees.

Your help is needed, and it’s needed now.  First, you can pray.  Then, you can activate that prayer by donating HERE  .  One hundred percent of your gift, designated for the refugee crisis, will be used to assist those directly impacted.
