Drawing upon Deuteronomy 10:14 we believe that caring for creation in all its uniqueness and inclusiveness is embedded in our fundamental character as a faith community. Everyone is part of the Green Team in different ways and at different levels.
Remembering our place and responsibility within God’s good creation is part of our regular worship. We are also an Interfaith Power and Light certified “Cool Congregation.” This means we have completed an inventory of our environmental impact and taken practical steps to reduce our energy and water use, recycle whenever possible, and use recycled or ENERGY STAR products where we can.
In 2016, we planted a Giving Grove apple orchard on the north side of our property. Since then, we have added more trees, and the orchard now produces an ample harvest. The fruit is donated to local food pantries for distribution in our community.
Every year around Earth Day we provide a hands-on environmental education program for the students at John Diemer Elementary.
