Episode 234: God's Spirit Abides
The Rev. Dr. Alix Pridgen
This week’s sermon reflects on Jesus’ promise in John 14 that we are never left alone. Long before the disciples understood what was coming, Jesus began preparing them—not with certainty or easy answers, but with the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.
Through stories of parents preparing children for the road, strangers showing up after disasters, voices of love that stay with us for decades, and quiet acts of faithfulness that shape a life, this message explores what it means for God’s Spirit to “abide” within us.
In a world that moves quickly and leaves quickly, the followers of Jesus are called to remain: to keep showing up, keep loving, keep praying, and keep standing beside one another. Because Christ has abided with us, we become people who abide with others.
