Sermon on Matthew 14:13-21

Every day we are surrounded by a story of scarcity. There isn't enough money, enough housing, enough security, enough opportunity—and eventually that story begins to shape the way we see ourselves. We start believing we aren't enough either.

In this sermon on Isaiah 55 and the feeding of the five thousand, we discover that God tells a very different story. To exiles who believed their future was over, God says, "Come." To hungry crowds in a deserted place, Jesus refuses to be limited by what everyone else can see. While the disciples count the loaves, Jesus opens a future they never imagined.

Drawing on surprising examples from nature, communities, and everyday life, this message explores how often we mistake today's reality for tomorrow's destiny. Again and again, God reveals possibilities hidden beyond our calculations.

When we've counted the loaves and decided how the story ends, Jesus still says, "Bring it here... to me."
